Initially we were met with a lot of resistance by the Greeks because they didn't like us standing all game. Myself & other Rowdies took it upon ourselves to go over to Section 14, trying to get that side of the arena jumping just like the other side always had been. No idea if 35 is still a student section / GA area or not.Īfter I stopped being a Student, and the explosion of students we got from the Final 4 run. they flip flopped sections 33 & 35 to what it is now. So Section 33 used to have students in that section as well. in section 35 (rowdies are section 34, and where the Band is now is section 33). They might get up & stand every so often but primarily it was the endzone by the visitors bench that was always the loudest, jumping up & down PKG & the peppas used to be couped up in a little tiny section next to the Rowdies. Now that being said when I was a Student from 2007-10 the endzone by the VCU Bench was primarily where all the Greeks would go & sit. both endzones were nothing but Students & the Band. but that was not the case back in the day. The endzone near VCU's Bench is a student section / GA section yes. I didn't care that it was smack dab in the middle of the city.

That's the majority of the reason I wanted to go to VCU in the first place was the game day atmosphere. then our Stadium never woulda been that ruckus prior to 2011, or 07 when we beat Duke in the NCAA Tourney. If it was all about being an urban school vs a College Town. Heck PKG often was leading the charge in make the STU what we used to call "The Animal". Ask PKG who used to direct the Peppas and got them National recognition along with our Basketball Programs success that they had. But go back from 2007 (when I started at VCU) and even before that. Sure it's the city life there's always things to do, always things going on. I'm sorry but I have to vehemently disagree. both the game day atmosphere's and the message boards.Īs far as the bolded statement. I'm just afraid with the new seat equity plan and the lack of student support that the program could be losing that "Havoc" VCU is well known for.įirst off, welcome to RamNation. The Stu has had some rocking moments though, from that Davidson game to even a couple of those 4 PMs Saturday games, I saw Ramnation burst out into what everyone was telling me they were. It just seems the student population does not have school pride, and I guess it somewhat has to do with it being an urban school and not the same "college town" I had. This is a good program that puts out a competitive team (I would know from watching Syracuse in my backyard my whole life). To me what sticks out is the lack of students at the games. Since this is my first year watching the games I couldn't tell what it was like before, but I clearly notice the number of open seats. But I have been reading this forum for a while and i figure I might as well join Ramnation.

Im very lucky to be able to have such an opportunity. Lucky for me my GF family are large donors and are close to the program and so I get tickets to all the games, sitting in the TJW club, courtside, or seats right near the bench. I work here at the school and have to say I love the program and always kept an eye on VCU basketball. First-year being a Rams fan, I moved to Richmond with my GF from Utica/Syracuse this summer after college.
